Beis Chaya Rochel בסייעתא דשמיא – is in its 23rd year. 138 Coatsworth Road was the first building purchased – formerly Edith House a home for the elderly. Its neighbours at 140 Coatsworth Road were Mr & Mrs Feivsh Steinhouse עה' owners of the iconic ‘Stehouse’ Grocery & Bakery. When 140 became available for purchase BCR realised its value and potential to allow extended facilities, and the purchase was made. Careful thought has been invested in seeking to best exploit the opportunities of a large adjoining building. It is hoped that the building will include a general-purpose Recreation Room; to allow for artistic Projects; a Kitchen and Bakery for use of Students; a Keep-fit Room plus Bedrooms. The project is more than simple renovation – the house is being rebuilt within its existing shell. The internal demolition work is now in progress.
